Ok. Here’s a little truth for you. I am TERRIFIED of blogging. I think to be a successful blogger, there is a level of vulnerability needed so that your audience feels like they are on a journey with you. Some of my favorite bloggers do just this. When I read a friend’s blog, I feel like I’m in the room with her, like she’s speaking directly to me. I admire that quality so much and hope to emulate it! Opening myself up to the (internet) world is a little scary, but I know in my heart this is the direction I want to take to grow my business. I ask that you bear with me until I get my “blogging legs” underneath me!
So why am I taking this direction? What pushes me to want to grow my business and find more freedom from my teaching job? Two names: Madelyn and Charlotte
These little girls entered our life like a tornado, and we haven’t looked back. After struggling with some infertility issues, Michael and I decided to take a step forward and work with the doctors to help make our dream of becoming parents come true. We were very lucky and after one round of Clomid, we found out we were having twins!! I was SHOCKED to say the least. I’ll never forget sitting in the ultrasound room where the tech brought up the picture and said “Congratulations, you’re having twins!”. I think I started crying and Michael started laughing. That is just so indicative of our relationship! From there, its been a whirlwind and we have loved every. second.
The girls are now 2.5 and getting ready to start pre-school (WHAT? How did that happen? Time, please slow down!). After registering them, I sat down and cried (are you sensing a theme here?). I reflected on what I wanted the future to look like for my family. Michael is an amazing attorney and growing his practice every day. I am a teacher and while I love my job and my students, the after school commitments make being the mom I’d like to be, difficult. I want to be able to take my kids to school, pick them up and volunteer in their classrooms. I started this photography journey to better document my children, but through that, a passion was born. I want more flexibility with my schedule and if I can find that while fostering a creative passion, that is a double win!
My family is my “why” and I am going to work and push as hard as I can to make my dream a reality. I hope you come along for the ride!
