Mackenzie + Hanna | Engaged

April 4, 2018

I can’t believe I’m blogging about my baby sister’s ENGAGEMENT pictures!!  Where on earth has the time gone?  I remember when she was just a tiny little baby and I was helping with diaper changes and feedings.  That’s what happens when you are 11 years apart!

Mom always told us that Mackenzie was created because one day, I told her I didn’t need her and that she needed to “cut the apron strings”…from there, she decided that she was going to have another baby!

Being 11 years apart has created some challenges but overall, we have the BEST relationship.  Growing up, I went away to college when Mackenzie was still very young, so that was quite hard on her.  But as we both got older, our relationship changed into a beautiful friendship.  I can tell her anything, and she always has my back.

When my sister came out to me and our family as gay, there was nothing but love and acceptance.  I don’t care who she wants to spend the rest of her life with as long as they treat her with respect and love.  And I can say without a doubt that Hanna fits that description.  I’ve known Hanna for a long time, and back when they were insisting they were “just friends”, I’m pretty sure I had an idea that it was more than that.  When they finally told me, I was so excited!  Hanna is such an amazing person.  She’s beautiful, smart, driven, and most importantly, loves my sister deeply.  She was such a rock for Mackenzie when our dad passed away.  Hanna made time to come over and help with all the funeral arrangements, running errands, and was a shoulder to cry on.  We couldn’t have gotten through those difficult few weeks without her.  I’m so excited that she will officially be my sister!!

These two drove all the way from Ohio to Chicago to spend some time with me, Michael and the girls, so of course we HAD to get engagement pictures done.  They don’t plan on getting married until they are both out of school, but we didn’t want to wait.  Thankfully the weather cooperated and we got some mid 40’s (instead of the SNOW we’re getting now… in APRIL!!!).

I hope you love these as much as I do!!
